Whether
or not you’re losing weight, the most common cause of
dizzy spells are viral infections. You might have noticed
that you sometimes get dizzy when you have a cold. The
other common cause is low blood pressure, which can mean
too little blood is getting to the brain. Temporary low blood
pressure is what causes dizziness when you stand up
suddenly after sitting or lying down for a longish period
of time – your body isn’t able to get blood to your
now-elevated brain fast enough.

experiencing dizzy spells, you should first make sure that
they’re not caused by a viral infection or by abnormally low
blood pressure, and this might mean a trip to your
doctor.

convinced that your dizziness isn’t caused by a virus or low

most likely culprit is low blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar,
also known as hypoglycemia, is caused by eating too
infrequently.
When we eat,

again. If they decline too far, then you can become
hypoglycemic and experience dizziness as a result.

What can
you do to avoid getting dizzy when losing
weight?
In order to
avoid dizzy spells caused by low blood sugar levels, all you
need to do is to space out the food you eat so that you never
go for longer than 2-3 hours without eating something. This
will probably mean eating a healthy snack once or twice a day
between meal times. Doing this will smooth out the
spikes-and-troughs effect that eating infrequently has on your
blood sugar levels. You should also ensure that you always eat
something about 1-2 hours before exercising.
If you need
some ideas for healthy snacks that you can eat and still lose
weight, try any of the following: a banana and some yogurt;
cereal with low-fat milk; a sports bar, or a protein shake made
with low-fat milk.
